For me perhaps the most striking aspect of Children of Men was the cinematography. The dark, slowly paced, claustrophobic, and unbroken shots made for a truly unique cinematic experience. Apparently luck, along with meticulous planning, played a part in capturing such shots.
Finally, on the 13th day, he attempted to shoot the sequence for the first time. “And it’s a fiasco,” he recalls. Accidents and blunders ruined the shot. Every time he had to start over, CuarĂ³n’s crew needed several hours to move the tanks back into place, re-rig explosives in the street and walls, and equip ill-fated extras (the ones caught in the movie crossfire) with fresh blood packs.
Luck a big factor in unbroken shot for ‘Children’

Children of Men opened to wide release at #3 in the box office this weekend - $10,295,000. I’m going to go out on a limb and predict this fine film actually moves up a box office spot next weekend to #2 and makes even more gross than its opening weekend - something near unheard of in the film industry.

Well the reviews are in and they’re unabashedly glowing.
4.3 out of 5 from Google
92% from Rotten Tomatoes
My 2 cents? This flick is truly an instant classic. Classic dark sci-fi like we haven’t seen since Gatica. I loved it.
